Reimaging The Future; One Youth At A Time

Welcome to Black 2 Da Future, a research project empowering BIPOC youth (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) to reimagine their future.

So… What Is Black 2 Da Future?

Black 2 Da Future is a research project where Black, Indigenous and POC youth ages 13-19 years old will develop their skills to reimagine their futures through science, technology and the arts.  We are currently recruiting youth to work with us on this exciting project!

Participants will have the opportunity to develop and deepen their research skills by focusing on local, environmental and community-based needs of interest to them with the ultimate goal of transformation and empowerment. Youth will be sharing the results of their research in a public exhibition and each participant will be paid a small honorarium for their contribution to the project.

Black 2 Da Future was created and is led by Dr. Jennifer Adams, researcher in science education at the University of Calgary. Dr. Adams is assisted by MelVee X, Calgary-based multidisciplinary artist and research assistant.

Program dates: July 26th, 2021 to August 6th, 2021

Program time: M-Th 11am to 1pm
